Italian is a Romance language spoken by approximately 62 million people, most of whom live in Italy.
It is an official language in three countries— Italy, San Marino and Switzerland (together with French, German and Romansh) and it is used as auxiliary language in Vatican.
It is also a minority language in some parts of Croatia and Slovenia.
